What we do for children
- Exams and cleanings
- X-rays when they are needed
- Sealants, to stop cavities forming in the back teeth
- Fluoride
- Fillings
- Extractions, when a tooth cannot be saved
- Checking how the adult teeth are coming through
If your child needs treatment that is better done by a specialist, we will tell you and refer you. We do not do work in the chair that is not right for them.
The first visit
The first time is about letting your child see the office and not be frightened of it. We count the teeth, check for cavities, clean them if they will let us, and explain to you what we can see.
You stay with your child the whole time if you want to.
If your child cries or will not sit still, that is fine. We go at their pace. Plenty of children need two or three visits before they are comfortable, and that is normal.
When to bring them in
Bring your child in if you see a brown or black spot on a tooth, if they complain of pain when eating, if their gums bleed when they brush, or if they have knocked their mouth.
And if you have never brought them to a dentist, bring them even if nothing hurts. A small cavity is easier and cheaper to fix than a big one.
Insurance and Medicaid
We accept Medicaid and dental insurance. Bring the card on the day of the appointment. If you do not have insurance, say so when you call and we will tell you the cost before we start.
