Full dentures
A full denture replaces all the teeth in the upper jaw, the lower jaw, or both. It sits on the gums and is taken out for cleaning.
Getting one made is not a single appointment. We take impressions, check the fit and the bite as the denture is built, and adjust it once you have worn it for a little while. That usually means several visits over a few weeks. We would rather take the time and have it fit properly than hand you something that rubs.
Partial dentures
If you still have some healthy teeth, a partial denture fills the gaps around them and clasps onto the teeth that remain. It also stops the other teeth drifting into the space, which is the part people do not expect — gaps do not stay the same size on their own.
Sore spots and adjustments
A new denture feels strange at first and can rub while you get used to it. Sore spots early on are normal and are usually settled with a small adjustment. Pain that does not go away is not something to put up with — come back in and we will look at it.
If your denture has broken, bring it in rather than gluing it. Household glue is not safe in the mouth and it usually makes a proper repair harder.
Cost and coverage
We accept Medicaid. What your plan covers for dentures depends on the plan, so bring your card and we will check it with you before any work starts. You will know what is covered and what is not before you agree to anything.
We will also give you the cost in writing. Nobody should find out the price afterwards.
