Benefits of Dental Implants

  • ✅ A permanent, natural-looking replacement

How a Dental Implant Works

An implant replaces the whole tooth, root included, and it comes in three parts. A small titanium post takes the place of the root and is set into the jawbone. Over the following months the bone grows around that post and grips it, that is what makes an implant stable in a way a bridge or a denture is not. An abutment then connects the post to the final crown, which is made to match the shape and shade of the teeth either side of it.

What to Expect

An implant is not a single appointment. Once the post is placed, the bone needs time to fuse around it, commonly three to six months, though it varies from person to person and depends which tooth is being replaced. Ask us about temporary options at your consultation so you know what the gap period looks like before you start.

Implants, Bridges and Dentures, an honest comparison

Implant

Replaces one tooth without touching the teeth either side. Because it sits in the bone like a natural root, it helps preserve bone height. It is the longest treatment and usually the highest upfront cost.

Bridge

Faster, and often less expensive upfront. But it anchors onto the teeth either side of the gap, and those teeth have to be reshaped to carry it, so healthy tooth structure is removed to fit it.

Denture

Replaces several teeth at once and is the least expensive route. It is removable, and because nothing replaces the root, the bone underneath gradually changes shape over the years, so dentures need adjusting or remaking over time.

Are Implants Right for You?

The only way to know is an examination. It depends on how much bone you have, the health of your gums, and your general health, some conditions and habits affect healing. If an implant is not the right answer for you we will say so and go through the alternatives above. Bring your insurance details and we will tell you what is covered before anything starts.
