Dental Crowns in Southwest Detroit

A crown covers a tooth that is too broken or too weak to hold a filling. Call (313) 841-1010 or walk in.

We place crowns at Motor City Dental Group on Vernor Hwy in Southwest Detroit.

When a crown is the answer

  • A large piece of the tooth has broken away
  • The tooth already has a big filling and keeps chipping
  • The tooth has had a root canal and has gone brittle
  • A crack that a filling would not hold together

A filling replaces part of a tooth. A crown wraps the whole of it, which is why it is used when there is not enough tooth left to build on.

What is involved

We numb the tooth, shape it so the crown fits over it, and take a mould. You leave with a temporary crown while the permanent one is made, then come back to have it fitted and checked against your bite.

The temporary is not as strong. Go easy on hard and sticky food on that side until the real one is in.

Looking after it

A crown does not decay, but the tooth underneath it still can, right at the gumline. Brush and floss it exactly like a normal tooth. A crown that is cared for lasts years; one that is not fails at the edge.

Insurance and Medicaid

We accept Medicaid and dental insurance. Bring your card on the day. If you have no insurance, say so when you call and we will tell you the cost before any work starts.
